Project description
The overall purpose of this contract is to ensure the achievement of the development objectives jointly identified among the SDF3 donors. At the highest level, SDF3 will focus on strengthening the climate resilience of vulnerable communities in Somaliland while creating increased income and job opportunities, and thereby helping to reduce poverty.
Job description
The Team Leader will be expected to oversee all aspects of the SDF 3 fund, ensuring alignment with its objectives of climate resilience, green economic growth, and equity. This role involves leading strategic planning, managing high-level stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the effective implementation of Fund activities.
The position is full-time over the whole duration of the Project and is based in Hargeisa with expected frequent travel throughout Somaliland.

Requirements

• university degree at least equivalent to a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as e.g., political science, economics, development studies, climate change and/or environmental studies, or similar social sciences.
• at least 10 years of post-degree working experience in developing countries, including at least 5 years’ experience from working in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
• at least 5 years of post-degree working experience as head of major development projects in Africa (i.e., multi-year projects, each with budgets of USD 10 million at least).
• at least 5 years of working experience with fund management in development contexts.
• work experience of at least 5 years from the Horn of Africa (preferably Somalia/Somaliland for at least 3 years).
• excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, and writing English.
